Fenelon Falls is a cute little village that has lots of great shops.
If you love country type settings and friendly, smiling faces, you will love Fenelon & the surrounding area.
The Fenelon Falls Santa Claus parade, all lit up as it travels through town, is wonderful Ц a must see for people who love Christmas and parades. Lots of free stuff usually, lots of family activities & the shops are open to browse in while you wait for the parade to start. |

You do need more benches for sitting in public areas. It is great that there are no closed beaches for swimming this year. Good recycling program. I like the concrete walkways out into the lake at the beach. ________________________________________________________________________________________

Four Stars from Janie ( Summer 2008 ) лллл We spent many leisurely hours in Fenelon Falls. We enjoyed ice cream by the locks and mochas at Sweet Bottoms. We visited the library often and had many great meals at The Lakehouse. Experiencing sunsets on the beach was beautiful. To add to all this were the wonderful people of the town. We met many interesting people at the antique shops and enjoyed browsing through old treasures. We hope to make many more happy memories in Fenelon enjoying the great people and everything it has to offer. I also thought it was nice to be in such a "dog friendly" town. ________________________________________________________________________________________ |

GrandpaChris is a Proud Resident of the City of Kawartha Lakes ( July 2008 ) ллллл My wife and I are retired here, after raising a family and working in the Durham Region. We just celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary. We live in "The Jewel of The Kawarthas", Fenelon Falls. We feel The City of Kawartha Lakes friendliness towards seniors. We are blessed with many benefits of good local, provincial and federal politicians, great numbers of clean lakes, rivers and parks, snowmobile and 4x4 trails especially the long rail trail system, much nature and the wide open spaces of our many communities. And it is close to Toronto if we wish to visit or shop. Regarding the "MyCity" poem. It came about because of a "new city name" during the amalgamation of old Victoria County to the new City of Kawartha Lakes in the late 1990's. I had met a group of teenagers walking the railtrail in June of 1999. And I asked them if they wanted to be "from" Victoria City or Kawartha Lakes. They all said Karwartha Lakes. I felt that I needed to say publicly it was OK to be from the City of Kawartha Lakes and that the name was good. " MyCity - The City of Kawartha Lakes - The Stress Free Capital of Canada " Words by GrandpaChris " I'm not a politician or university professor. I don't live in Peterborough or Oshawa And I don't know Harry, Mary, John and Eileen from Sault Ste. Marie Although I'm certain they're really nice people.
I have a cottage. Not a camp. I enjoy hearing English and French spoken here. And I pronounce it Poles Corners not Powels Corners. I proudly fly my countries flag high on the mast of my dingy on Cameron Lake.
I believe in catch and release, not catch and keep. Ecotourism, not shoot and kill. And that the Loon is truly and proud and noble bird. And it is pronounced Rose-a-dale, not Rosedale.
The City of Kawartha Lakes is the largest part of The Kawarthas. And the largest land and water mass of any city. And the BEST part of all Ontario.
My name is GrandpaChris. And I'm a proud residence of the City of Kawartha Lakes. The stress free capital of Canada. "
LISTEN TO THIS AUDIO VERSION of " MY CITY " ( opens in new window ) Thanks to " GrandpaChris " for sharing these with us. ________________________________________________________________________________________ |
